Comeback Medvedev Claims Maiden Championship in Over Two Years

Nineteen of the Russian's 21 victories have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev secured his first title for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a former number one, has endured a challenging season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and finally separating with long-time trainer Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial championship after the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt after that period of that year.

Success also indicates he has won 21 titles at 21 various tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is particularly special," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his last six finals, featuring in that event earlier this year.

His counter-punching approach and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had caused commentators to wonder if his ability to perform at the elite level was concluded.

However the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform positively, supported by an improved serving game.

He came back from a break down in the first set against the challenging Moutet, taking 4 of the concluding five points to take the lead.

The competitors traded break points in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden tour title, gained dominance to push for a third set.

The opponent rescued 4 early break points in a competitive third set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, he earned victory with a shot at the net, with his opponent incapable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
